University History
From a provincial school in 1907 to a comprehensive state university — the journey of Negros Oriental State University.
Founded as Negros Oriental Provincial School
The institution was established to provide secondary education to the youth of Negros Oriental.
Renamed Negros Oriental Trade School
Shifted focus to vocational and trade education to support the province's growing economy.
Became East Visayan School of Arts and Trades
Expanded its curriculum to include arts and technology programs, serving the entire Eastern Visayas region.
Converted to Central Visayas Polytechnic College
Elevated to a polytechnic college offering degree programs in engineering, technology, and applied sciences.
Became Negros Oriental State University
Signed into law as a state university through Republic Act No. 9299, expanding its mandate to offer comprehensive higher education programs. Merged with several satellite campuses across the province.
Further Expansion and Integration
Additional satellite campuses were integrated into the NORSU system — Bais, Bayawan-Sta. Catalina, Guihulngan, Mabinay, Pamplona, and Siaton campuses were formally established or strengthened.
Digital Transformation
NORSU accelerated its digitalization efforts, implementing online learning management systems and student portals in response to the pandemic and changing educational landscape.
